Homework Grading Standards
- If you work with any person or old homework, please cite them.
Exceptions are the APS Guide, the textbook, class, and section.
Note: The professor and TA should be cited
if you ask them questions
outside of class or section; e.g. office hours or appointments.
First offense: warning.
Second offense: 20% off
- Solutions which appear to be directly
copied from previous solutions,
even with a reference will be given 50% credit
- Ingenous and creative solutions
may receive bonus points at the grader's discretion.
- 2 point bonus for first person to correct each error
or suggest an improvement (which we use) in a homework or solution.
- Homeworks are due in the CS181 mailbox in 3559 Boelter (upper right
corner) at 4 pm on Wednesdays.
After 4 pm penalty: none; no score will be higher than
70
- Solutions will be handed out in section on Fridays.
They will be available on the web site Friday or Saturday.
After Friday noon: none; no score will be higher than
50
After Friday noon: 25% credit for copying from solution
- Partial homeworks : you can always redo problems, however the maximum
score for each problem will be 70%, 50%, or 25% (see above).
- Exceptions to this policy must be arranged in advance.
